While players cannot recruit Legendary Pokémon (in the sense like most Pokémon are on PMU) and use them in town, there is now a method to allow the playerbase to temporarily have a Legendary Pokémon on their team in a dungeon. This is done by a method called Summoning, where an item, the previously unusable Mystery Part, mixed with a Legendary-affiliated Heart Slate, is used to "call" a Legendary into an empty slot into your party, much like how an escort joins you.

How To Obtain the Needed Items

The needed items for the creation of a Legendary-specific Mystery Part are:

  • a Mystery Part, found at the end of Tanren Chambers, Normal Route, at floor 99F
  • a Heart Slate, a rare drop from Boss Legendary Pokémon; this is what will tie the Mystery Part to a specific Legendary

The current list for all available Summons are as follows:

  • Zapdos
  • Moltres
  • Articuno
  • Rayquazza
  • Mew
  • Deoxys
  • Mewtwo
  • Regirock
  • Regice
  • Registeel
  • Raikou
  • Kyogre
  • Groudon
  • Giratina

While Mystery Parts are not droppable, Heart Slates are, and are therefore tradable.

Merlin and the Creation of a Summoning Mystery Part

In the Southeastern Village in Archford (accessible after defeating Boggy Wastes), there is an NPC named Merlin in a house with a blue roof. Talking to him with a Mystery Part and a Heart Slate will give you that specific Legendary's summoning item (this is permanent). There is also a fee, starting at 100,000 Poké and increasing by 100,000 Poké increments for each additional summoning item. Additionally, you must also have an Explorer Rank of Master or above.

Summoning a Legendary in a Dungeon

When you summon a Legendary in a dungeon (provided you have an open slot already), the Legendary summoned will be the highest-leveled Pokémon already on your team. For example, if your team leader has the highest level out of the other Pokémon on your team at level 70, then the summoned Legendary will be level 70 as well. The summoned Legendary will have a random set of moves possible for it, but you can also teach it a TM move for that specific instance. Using the Mystery Part for a successful summon will send it to your storage, so that when the Legendary leaves your party upon completion or escape of the dungeon, it can be used again.
