Stats are a primary function of the metagame. Each stat is separated into different categories of Attack, Defence, Special Attack, Special Defence, Speed, and HP (Health Points). In PMU 6 and PMU 5, you could put in points for a stat when leveling up, but in PMU 7, the stats became set for balancing purposes.

HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense are normally defined by this formula: $Stat = (Base + 100) * (Level + 1) / 70 + 10$

These 6 stats may also have flat increases by other items like family items.

Attack

The Attack stat determines how much damage a Pokémon deals when using a physical move.
